Acid Reflux Remedy – Effective & Safe Home Remedies

By Mika

There are many things that can be done to help ease the symptoms associated with acid reflux. This disease, also known as Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is very painful for most people and can cause serious damage to the esophagus if left untreated. To aid in finding a GERD home remedy that will work well for you, here are five ideas you may not have thought of.

Ginger Ale is a well-known acid reflux remedy. Try some ginger ale with your dinner or, better yet, make a ginger drink by boiling half a small bunch of ginger root in a quart of water. Drink this between meals as a ginger remedy or natural cure for GERD, or drink it following a meal only when you feel a burning sensation in the stomach. Remember to drink the root at room temperature.

Apple cider vinegar is another great acid reflux remedy. Add two to four teaspoonfuls of apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water and drink this with a meal, or mix it with warm soups or fresh fruit salads. It is also a good choice to use in your kitchen as an acid reflux home remedy. Dilute one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in half a glass of water and sip slowly to help with heartburn.

Another acid reflux remedy is to eat small meals more frequently throughout the day. For instance instead of having a large meal of fried foods or spicy dishes, snack on mini-meals with a little bit of applesauce, cottage cheese and a little bit of flaxseed oil. You can also eat smaller meals throughout the day if you like instead of having three large meals. If you eat your meals earlier in the day and snack later in the day, this can help too. This way you will get the nutrients that your body needs for healing.

Ginger Root is another great herbal acid reflux remedy. Chew on a few pieces of ginger and rinse with cold water. This will help relieve heartburn symptoms. Make sure that you are not taking any other medications such as Tums or Zantac unless it is specified on the label that they can be used with ginger.

These are just some of the many acid reflux home remedies that are safe and effective to use. There are other natural remedies that you can try. The key is to find what remedy works for you and follow through with it consistently. With a consistent acid reflux remedy, you should soon begin to see some results.
