Foods That Relieve Heartburn – What You Shouldn’t EAT to Avoid the Pain

By Mika

If you suffer from recurrent heartburn, I’m sure you’ve tried a variety of therapies, including antacids and over-the-counter drugs. These do help people with acid reflux pain, but they don’t stop it from happening again. Foods that treat heartburn are necessary, and some of the greatest foods for this disease can be found in your own refrigerator. Here are a few ideas for tonight’s dinner.

Apples should be avoided. Avoiding fried and acidic foods, as well as fatty, oily, and difficult-to-digest foods, may help prevent heartburn in the first place. Gastric acids may back up into your esophagus if digestion is hampered, exacerbating the symptoms. As a result, eating apples may help you prevent the discomfort of heartburn. They also cause you to eat less, making you less prone to overeat foods that cause heartburn.

Eat citrus fruits. Citrus fruits make it easier for your digestive system to break down fatty foods. Oranges, limes, and tomatoes are among the most common offenders. While these items are delicious when eaten raw, they do not taste as good when blended with peppermint or other citrus fruit juice to conceal the flavor. Even better, consume them as soon as your heartburn subsides!

Drinking cherries and pineapple juices. Despite the fact that grapefruits are abundant in antioxidants, research show that ingesting too many of them can make you more susceptible to GERD. Consider eating fresh pineapple or cherry juice instead of taking antioxidant tablets. Although many people appreciate the taste of pineapple juice, it is vital to keep in mind that some people get burning feelings after consuming it. For some people, the grapefruit variety may be the best option.

Heartburn relief from caffeine and citrus meals. Although it may seem unusual to think of coffee as a heartburn solution, studies has shown that certain components of coffee, such as caffeine, reduce the amount of stomach acid produced during digestion. However, consuming large amounts of caffeine-containing substances might cause heartburn by activating the pancreas to release excessive amounts of stomach acid. Excess acids would build up in the esophagus if this happened, causing chest aches, nausea, and possibly asthma-like symptoms. Limit your intake of caffeinated and citrus fruits and liquids to avoid this.

Foods that worsen heartburn symptoms should be avoided. The common chocolate bar is the most common cause of heartburn. Theobromine, found in chocolate, is thought to enhance the rate of heartburn by increasing our sensitivity to the meal we’re consuming. As a result, only unsugared chocolates with no additional sugar, butter or cream, and, most importantly, no artificial flavors should be chosen. Eat meals that relieve heartburn symptoms to avoid heartburn.
