How To Get Rid Of Heartburn Naturally

By Mika

People have many different opinions on how to get rid of heartburn, but if you suffer from heartburn frequently, there are ways to alleviate the discomfort and help relieve acid reflux symptoms. Heartburn is a very common condition suffered by many people and is caused by over production of stomach acid. The best way to avoid heartburn and to control its symptoms is to maintain a healthy diet that reduces stomach acid production. Adding some extra fiber to your diet can also help reduce your heartburn symptoms.

The cause of heartburn is the release of gastric acid in the oesophagus which is caused by an over production of stomach acid. This excess acid in the oesophagus then travels through the blood stream and causes damage to the lining of the oesophagus and can result in the onset of chronic inflammation and diseases such as Crohn’s disease. Some people may only suffer mild symptoms of heartburn and some will even have no symptoms at all.

An effective way to relieve the symptoms associated with heartburn is to drink plenty of water. Water will dilute the stomach acid and therefore reduce the symptoms. Consuming alkaline water will increase the alkalinity of your stomach and therefore reduce your symptoms. Alkaline water is beneficial for the body as it helps to remove toxins from the body. Drinking alkaline water will also help to improve your digestion.

Another way to cure heartburn is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Smoking, alcohol abuse and stress can all exacerbate the symptoms of acid reflux and should be avoided. One of the biggest causes of oesophageal cancer is diet, so keeping a healthy diet free of excess fat, sugar and salt is essential to the prevention of this disease. Diet can be tricky to maintain, but making small changes to your daily diet can have a dramatic effect on your health. Cutting out caffeine, fried foods and sugary drinks can have a positive impact on the severity of your symptoms.

An effective way to deal with the problem of heartburn and acid reflux is to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Smoking and drinking should be eliminated as these are proven factors that contribute to the symptoms of this condition. Drinking large amounts of alcohol will only exacerbate your condition and should be avoided. Smoking is a factor in causing many different illnesses and can be bad for your health over the long term.

Chewing gum can also cause heartburn and acid reflux symptoms. As chewing gum increases the amount of stomach acid produced, it can increase the severity of the problem and makes it harder to treat. Avoid chewing gum as much as possible and if you do find yourself craving it, try to reduce your intake of it.
