Is Yogurt Gluten Free?

By Mika

Yogurt is a Great Gluten Free Food

Is yogurt gluten free? This is a question many people ask who are on the gluten free diet and need to replace their favorite breakfast food, such as breakfast yogurt. Gluten is found in most breads, pastas, baked goods, and other foods that contain wheat. Even yogurt is gluten free, but if the yogurt you buy is clearly labeled as gluten free or is gluten free-marked on the package, it might have some gluten in it.

First of all, what is gluten? Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and other cereals. If you’re suffering from a gluten allergy, which is a common occurrence if you have celiac disease, you may have an intolerance for gluten. For others who just have a wheat allergy, simply replacing the wheat in their diet with one of the non-wheat varieties will provide them with the same nutrition.

Some foods that contain gluten are not necessarily bad for you, but there are others that may contain gluten, and you should avoid them at all costs. Gluten is commonly found in products such as pizza dough, cookies, cakes, bagels, instant oatmeal, and other pre-made breakfast foods. Other examples may include pasta, pretzels, doughnuts, and chips. When shopping for snacks, make sure that they don’t contain gluten or ask the snack store manager if the products they have are safe for you to eat. Foods such as popcorn may contain a bit of gluten and when eating French fries it’s important to refrain from eating too much of them because it could have the same effect as having a wheat allergy!

You can find yogurt that is gluten-free yogurt in health food or natural food stores. However, you can find more information online about whether or not yogurt contains gluten. It may take some research on your part, but it’s worth it when you consider how many nutrients you can get from eating gluten free yogurt. Yogurt is loaded with calcium, protein, vitamin B12, and essential fatty acids, just to name a few.

If you’re dealing with a gluten allergy, it’s important to talk to your doctor before you buy any type of gluten-free food or supplement. You may be able to get a prescription from your doctor that will help you pay for your new gluten-free diet. Alternatively, your doctor may recommend a wheat free diet supplement, which has similar ingredients to regular yogurt but has fewer ingredients. In addition, there are many different websites online that can provide you with information about gluten and how it affects the body. If you do have a gluten allergy, remember that the best way to stay healthy is still to eat regular yogurt, veggies, breads, cereals, and other foods that you enjoy. There are no known ill effects from eating these items.

Many people who have gluten intolerance worry that they won’t be able to enjoy certain foods, such as pasta, or that they’ll be deprived of all kinds of fun foods. However, when you go gluten-free living, you can still eat these kinds of foods without any trouble. It may take some practice, but you can start by eliminating the things that you know that you have to avoid in order to be gluten free. It’s okay to experiment and see what you can do without gluten. Eventually you’ll get to the point where you can have everything that you want without having to fear that you’ll be labeled with a gluten allergy. Just remember that when you’re doing something new, or going on a gluten-free diet for the first time, you should still prepare your meals that you enjoy as much as possible so that your body will get used to the new diet.
